Eco- Friendly True Blue Bay Boutique Resort brings home another the Environmental Sustainability Award from the Caribbean Hotel Information Exchange Forum (CHIEF)
On Saturday 23rd June the family owned True Blue Bay Boutique Resort was one of two Grenadian resorts to receive awards at the annual Caribbean Hospitality Information Exchange Forum (CHIEF). The boutique resort earned the second place award in the Environmental Sustainability category and Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel captured the second place in the Operations category. This was the second time True Blue Bay Boutique Resort was recognised in the Environmental Sustainability category at CHIEF.

What happens at CHIEF?
At this annual conference ,which bore the theme “Unite and Innovate” this year, members of the Caribbean hospitality industry exchange information and best practices about what is new and important in the industry. Hotel Owner and Marketing Director, Magdalena Fielden, accompanied by General Manager Marie Fielden and Hotel Manager Mary Calliste attended on behalf of the True Blue Bay Boutique Resort team at this year’s forum.

General Manager Marie Fielden presented as a panelist about the boutique resort’s recipe for People Powered Success. In particular- methods and opportunities the boutique resort is giving management to challenge existing systems to innovate the business’ development, tools employed to forster the personal development of employees, the importance of internal communications, training techniques and programs focused on employee wellbeing.

The boutique resort is Green Globe Gold Member certified and a Green Leaf Resort.
New eco-rooms and suites available from 2019
In January 2019 the boutique resort is opening 22 self-sustaining rooms and suites called ‘Cocoa Pods’ which are currently under construction. Rainwater will be harvested, stored in tanks and treated before being used in the rooms and the two new freshwater swimming pools. Solar panels will be used to heat the water and to generate electricity reducing the environmental impact of the entire resort. Owner’s Russ, Magdalena and their daughter Marie Fielden handpicked every piece of sustainable and energy efficient equipment and decor.
Also in the running for the award in the Environmental Sustainability category was Hamanasi Resort in Belize and The Tyrall Club in Jamaica. Hamanasi Resort in Belize took home the first place award. True Blue Bay Resort congratulates its contemporaries on their green efforts and achievements.
