Family vacations are wonderful. They allow us to reconnect with the people we love the most without the demands of our day to day responsibilities and routines. It is time just to enjoy each other’s company. As much as we look forward to that quality time, travelling with young children can be tricky, and a whole new set of considerations now exist compared to our pre-kids travelling days- especially when it comes to choosing accommodation. Do kids stay for free? Is there a playground? Can we get a cot for the baby? Do they have kids’ activities? Is there somewhere we can prepare a quick and easy meal? Do they even allow kids?!
True Blue Bay Boutique Resort is a family owned and run hotel and so we genuinely value a family-friendly environment. What exactly makes us one of the most family-friendly resorts on the island?
1. Kids under 12 stay and eat for free
Whenever you book a family vacation up to two children under 12 automatically stay for free and eat for free off the kid’s menu based on whatever meal plan you choose. Look out for our Summer 2019 Family Offers on the website.
2. Free Childcare at Namaste Kids Club
Fun and safe child care is available to guests at our onsite kids’ club. Every family enjoys 2 complimentary hours of childcare- perfect for a mom and dad spa date at our Blue Haven Spa.
3. Kids activities can be arranged on demand
Bubble making children’s dive courses, jewellery making and hair braiding among other engaging activities can be arranged for the kids at our concierge desk. We also have a great choice of board games- just ask at the front desk.
4. Convenient in-room kitchens and kitchenettes
Each of our rooms, suites and villas is equipped with a kitchen or kitchenette and a dining area. This makes preparing a quick meal or warming up a bottle easy and convenient. Kitchens and kitchenettes also have a fridge perfect for storing takeaway meals, baby’s food, drinks (juice boxes!) and snacks.
5. Cots and sofabeds
When you book your stay let us know whether you need a cot and/or a sofa bed. Some of our rooms and suites come equipped with a sofa bed, and all rooms can accommodate a cot for babies and toddlers.
6. 24/7 Pizza
Pizza always feels like a treat, and we serve it every minute of every day at our restaurant Dodgy Dock! Every Monday we have a special on Pizza Margarita, Beer and Wings.
7. Two Playgrounds and a waterslide
We have two playgrounds: 1 near our restaurant- Dodgy Dock and one by our Bayview pool. Both have a clubhouse perfect for imaginary play, slides, swings and sand toys. The Bayview pool also has a fun waterslide- a hit with both kids and adults.
8. A shallow pool that mimics a natural beach- our beach pool
Our beach pool mimics the way the water meets the shore at a natural beach with a very shallow entrance that gradually gets deeper. This is perfect for kids playing independently in the water. Of course, it goes without saying that we always need to keep an eye on the little ones. This is our most child-friendly pool.
9. Child-Friendly TV
Our smart TVs have access to both youtube and Netflix so your kids can watch their favourite kids programs while on vacation during their downtime.
10. Daily Shuttle to Grand Anse Beach
Grand Anse Beach is a beautiful 2 mile stretch of powdery white sand that meets the aquamarine Caribbean Sea. No Grenada vacation is complete without a day spent at Grand Anse and it a fantastic beach for the kids. Luckily we have a free shuttle to take guests there twice per day.
11. Seasonal Kids Activities- Halloween Parties and Easter Egg Hunts
When resort owners Russ and Magdalena came to Grenada they noticed that there were few community activities specifically for young children. Having two young daughters themselves they decided to change that- now each year we host a Halloween Kids party (October) complete with a spine chilling haunted house and kids parade, and, an annual Easter Egg Hunt (March/April) as part of the Arts and Craft Easter Bazaar.
