Earth Hour at True Blue Bay Boutique Resort on March 24th from 8:30pm to 9:30 pm
On Saturday 24th March 2018 we will proudly take part in global celebration of worldwide efforts to conserve our planet by hosting Earth Hour. From 8:30 pm we, together with our guests, will turn of its lights for one hour and be entertained in a candlelit ambiance by the melodic voice of local jazz singer Jenny J and the powerfully rhythmic spoken word poetry performance of Sherry “The Wordy Phoenix” Hamlet.
Candles and flashlights will illuminate our operations while we continue to serve our guests during that hour. In house guests will be asked to participate in this initiative by switching off the lights, air conditioning, computers and other devices in their rooms.
Why switch off the lights? One reason is that Grenada burns fossil fuels to generate electricity. The burning of fossil fuels is a major contributor to the greenhouse gases which are trapped in the earth’s atmosphere. Trapped greenhouse gases in the atmosphere causes the rapid rise of the earth’s temperature to dangerous levels that threaten the earth’s existence as we know it. This is known as global warming.
We are an award winning Green Resort and Green Globe Gold Member. Environmental conservation is a huge consideration whenever we make any business decision. Earth Hour is just one of the ways we shine a light on how everyone can do their part in conserving this beautiful planet we call home. How can you be part of the change you wish to see? Check out the list over on the website of all our environmental efforts for some inspiration and practical tips.
We encourage everyone to participate in Earth Hour by turning off your lights and devices in your homes, businesses and communities to shine a light on climate change.
Earth Hour is a worldwide event initiated by the international organisation WWF. For more information about Earth Hour visit: https://www.earthhour.org. Use the hashtag #Connect2Earth to show us how you are celebrating Earth Hour this year.
