Hotel Owner and Marketing Director, Magdalena Fielden, accompanied by Website Manager Salisha Armstrong and Hotel Manager Mary Calliste attended  the CHIEF Conference from September 30 until October 1st, 2016. This is an annual conference where members of the Caribbean hospitality industry exchange information about what is new and important in the industry.

Fielden was invited by president of the Caribbean Hotel Association, Ms. Karolin Troubetzkoy, to present on a panel about the hotel’s environmental efforts, community involvement, social cultural initiatives and sustainable practices. True Blue Bay Resort is honoured to have been named one of the top three Caribbean hotels in the Environmental Sustainability category for the efforts of its in house Green Team led by Human Resource manager Marie Fielden. The Green Team spearheads all environmentally friendly projects around the hotel and also contributes manpower to community clean ups around Grenada.

Keeping Grenada Beautiful

True Blue Bay Boutique Resort prides itself on being environmentally conscious and giving back to the Grenadian Community in a meaningful way. The Resort’s green achievements include recycling 60 % of its waste, powering 8% of its operations with solar energy, reducing its electricity consumption by 30% and recycling its grey water for use in its gardens.

The Resort has made contributions to the local community through; its significant benefaction to rebuilding the Vendomme Primary School including an air conditioned library and its continued financial support to the school, founding the Grenada Chocolate Fest and House of Chocolate which honour and celebrate Grenada’s organic and ethically produced tree to bar chocolate and fine cocoa, supporting the Grenada’s sole public library, the Grenada Community Library,  and hosting several bazaars annually where local artists and craft persons can showcase and sell their unique local products.

Also in the running for the award in the Environmental Sustainability category was Bucuti Tara Beach Resort in Aruba and The Tyrall Club in Jamaica. The Tyrall Club in Jamaica snagged first place. True Blue Bay Resort congratulates its contemporaries on their green efforts and achievements.
